    Today, I'd like to shine the spotlight on Peter Kepecs, owner and dealer principal at Downsview Chrysler (Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat), a true leader and an inspiration to many over four decades.

    I'm delighted to call Peter a friend and a colleague. In the 1980s, Peter hired me as a manager at Downsview Chrysler. Peter was a mentor at an important point in my career. Indeed, his wisdom and leadership gave me the confidence to pursue my own dreams in the car business.

    While attending Centennial College in the early 1970s, Peter began working at a local gas station. Soon afterwards, he landed a job in the service department at Downsview Chrysler. Working at a gas station and a service department taught Peter the importance of teamwork in serving customers.

    By the mid-1970s, Peter had moved into sales at Downsview, where he excelled. A few years later, he approached the owners about his ambitions to move into management and possibly become a dealer principal himself. The owners encouraged Peter to continue working hard and they helped him to achieve his goal.

    The mentorship that Peter received became a model for how he would mentor his own employees. He has always believed in treating people fairly and putting other's interests before his own.

    Throughout his career, he has been an equal-opportunity employer, hiring men and women of diverse backgrounds and providing them with the resources and opportunities to succeed.

    For Peter, ensuring that employees are happy, motivated and engaged has been a recipe for success. As a testament to his caring attitude and leadership abilities, many of Peter's employees have worked at the dealership for 20 years or longer, and many have gone on to work in management and ownership positions elsewhere.

    With its relentless focus on employee and customer satisfaction, Downsview Chrysler has achieved an impressive list of industry awards and recognition. The dealership is consistently one of the top-producing Chrysler stores in Canada and has won Chrysler's 5-Star Service Award and the Chrysler President's Award.

    Besides providing great leadership, Peter has given back to the industry in other ways. He's been a member of the MOPAR Masters Club, the Chrysler Dealer Council, and the Chrysler Advertising Council.

    His dealership has also been an excellent corporate citizen, supporting The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, Movember Canada, local sports teams and local charities.

    If there is a message Peter would like to convey, it's that the retail automotive business is a thriving and dynamic field. He says the sector is often overlooked among young people as a career option, and he would encourage students of all ages to consider a career in the business.

    He points to the Automotive Business School of Canada at Georgian College in Barrie, and Centennial College in Toronto, as two of the many post-secondary institutions that provide excellent education and training for careers within the car industry.

    Peter says a new-car dealership today consists of several businesses under one roof (sales, digital marketing, accounting, technical repairs, human resources, IT). For those who are willing to work hard and commit to their careers, the opportunities are endless.

    I attended the University of Guelph, and now live in Toronto working as the Secretary Treasurer and Controller of Downsview Chrysler. In 1991, I started working at Chrysler Financial before I moved to join the Chrysler Corporate team four years later. When I first came to Chrysler Corporation I processed dealer audits but over  my twenty five year career there I held the positions of Retail Sales Representative, Corporate Fleet Representative, Marketing Manager, District Operations Manager, and District Sales Manager. Suffice it to say that I learned the ins and outs of Chrysler Corporation and after twenty five years I wanted a new challenge and decided to help manage at the dealership level.  Downsview Chrysler has a great reputation with Chrysler and within the GTA for nearly sixty years, so the decision to partner up with Mr. Kepecs and the Downsview Chrysler team was an easy one. This is a great place to work and the only place to buy your new or pre-owned Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat vehicles. And with one of the largest Parts and Service Departments in the GTA, it would only make sense to bring your car here for regular maintenance and anything else that needs fixing.         My career at Downsview Chrysler began many years ago sweeping floors, stocking shelves and washing cars. After completing my Bachelor's degree in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a few separate contracts with Daimler Chrysler Financial in customer service, I traveled to Michigan to study Automotive Marketing and Management. I returned to Downsview Chrysler in the summer of 2008 where I became the top selling salesperson after only one month. By January 2010 I was promoted to my current position of sales manager, becoming one of the youngest sales managers in the city at the age of 24. In the first quarter of 2011, I was named FIAT Studio Director, responsible for our newest brand that's taken the GTA by storm, FIAT. I understand that purchasing a new or pre-owned vehicle is one of the largest purchases you will make and I hope you give us the opportunity to take care of you through your purchase decision from the moment you walk through our showroom doors to the moment you drive away in your new vehicle to when you come back for your first service appointment

    I was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario by a Canadian-Italian family. Growing up, I played most sports, including 15 years of AAA and Junior hockey as a goaltender. After secondary school, I attended York University with Business & Society as my major. Once school and hockey ended, I joined the Automotive Industry at 24. Five successful years later, and I now find myself managing at the most reputable dealership in the GTA. I am happily married to my beautiful wife Jennifer and we have a son named Gio. We love to travel to Florida & Myrtle Beach where we can relax, and I can get in a few rounds of golf.

    Lastly, but not surprisingly, I am also a big Toronto sports fan.

    I first started at Downsview Chrysler at fourteen working in our Parts Department on my summer vacations. Once I was old enough to drive I began driving our Service Shuttle and became the head of our Pre-Delivery-Inspection Department. Working in these positions as well as working at Chrysler Financial in the Lease Maturities Department has given me an invaluable education in the car industry. I use the knowledge I've gained in my different positions to provide my customers with unparalleled service. If a client requires assistance in Service or Finance I am always there to help. I believe this is what sets me apart from other Salespeople. I have a vested interest in Downsview Chrysler and I know the way for our dealership to continue its success is by providing my customers with a full service experience.   • Tom Kramer

    Tom Kramer sold his first car on a handwritten Bill of Sale when an AM radio was a $99 option.  He won't tell us what year he actually started but has seen the amazing changes in standard and optional safety equipment over the years. Keeping up with product knowledge on all the models from year to year has been his passion and makes him the go-to guy for both Fleet and Retail customers alike. The last 20 (or so???) years Tom has been dedicated to Commercial and Fleet Management achieving over the years both Professional Member and Master Member designation from Chrysler Canada.  Tom has that sense of humour that never makes it boring to deal with him. Fleet customers appreciate his ability to always promptly locate and deliver those hard to find cars and trucks. This is the first time a Pre-Owned Salesperson has accomplished this.

    In 1983, I started my mechanic apprenticeship at a small garage. Four years later I started working as a mechanic at Downsview Chrysler. I enjoyed working at Downsview (and its brother store Westend Chrysler) until 1993 when I decided to try something different  - heavy machinery mechanics. I worked at Caterpillar - the construction machinery and equipment company - for almost twenty years, and it was great experience. But when a mechanics position opened up at Downsview Chrysler, I gravitated back home.  The next five years flew by and then I was promoted to become Shop Foreman in 2015. It is my job to make sure that our clients vehicles are repaired properly and professionally and in a safe environment for our mechanics. And I pride myself on doing my job well. If there is anything I can do to help make your service visit better, I will.

    Hi Cousin. I started in the auto industry in the neighbourhood - at a gas station at the corner of Dufferin and Tycos. I was pumping gas and did oil changes too. I soon moved to Bayfront Car Service, which is where I did my mechanics apprenticeship, I learned a lot there. With that knowledge I started buying and selling used cars on my own and I did that more than a decade. I was drawn back to the service side of things and began my career as a Service Advisor at Canadian Tire. It was great there but when a Service Advisor position opened up at Downsview Chrysler in 1999, I took it. The things that drew me to Downsview Chrysler are the same things that have kept me here for the past twenty years - it's great location, it's friendly atmosphere, and it's attention to detail that gets cars fixed quickly and properly.     Following my passion, I started my journey with the Toronto Auto Show as a Brand Ambassador for all different brands of vehicles. After five years of presenting cars, trucks and SUVs to thousands of people, I realized how much I love educating people on their vehicles.

    After the Auto Show, I wanted to get more involved in the automotive industry. This ambition, and my love for helping people with cars, led me to become a Service Advisor at Nu-Tech Superior Tire and Auto, and Wendel Clark's Meineke Car Care Center for three years. But when a position opened up at Downsview Chrysler, I knew this is where I wanted to be. The previous retiring advisor had been here for more than 15 years, so I knew this was a good place to be, and a good place to continue my passion for helping people with their cars. Over the past twenty plus years I have been collision center manager at our on site location. While working there I achieved my CPA designation and with that I moved to become the Assistant Secretary Treasurer at Downsview Chrysler. I have been with Downsview since May of 2016 and I look forward to many more years here.

I worked there for two years as a sales professional but it came time to leave and I worked at a lovely Greek Restaurant from 2002-2007. As good as the Souvlaki was, I wanted to come back to the car business, so since 2008 I have been working in Administration and as the Main Receptionist at Downsview Chrysler. When you come to Downsview it will (chances are) be my smiling face welcoming you to our showroom, and thank you for your business when you go. I always have a good candy stash and colouring books for the kids...ok fine you can colour too if you want.
